About

Narrowboat

We started Wilderness Craft to bring honest, reliable craftsmanship to both land and water. Based in Leicestershire and living aboard on the canals, we combine traditional skills with a practical understanding of what makes a space work—whether that’s a traditional home or a narrowboat on the cut.

When you get in touch, it will always be one of the two of us you’re speaking with, and we’re the ones who will be carrying out the work.

Lizzy

Lizzy Elliott

Business Operations & Styling

Lizzy keeps the wheels turning behind the scenes, bringing 15 years of experience in professional business support roles to Wilderness Craft. She manages the day-to-day operations with sharp organisation, ensuring our projects run smoothly from the first quote to the final handover. Alongside running the business, she brings a keen eye for interior styling, helping clients figure out layout ideas, paint schemes, and how to get the most out of smaller, traditional spaces.

Matt

Matt Elliott

Joiner & Craftsman

Matt handles the hands-on work, splitting his time between the workbench and the towpath. Following a career as a Captain in the British Army, he traded military leadership for traditional joinery, bringing that same ingrained discipline, precision, and work ethic to the trade. He’s happiest working with heritage materials, traditional tools, and solving the unique structural challenges that come with life on the water.
